I got this radio and its great for a cheap dual band com device. I moonlight with Search & Rescue so when you get to a site there may be multiple freqs to get on; I can program it with my small netbook fast and be on the same coms in no time. I did have to download two programs for this thing one to open it up to all the freqs and the normal programing software from Powerwerx. Just google "unlock wouxum kg-uvd1p" and its on the first page. I tried all of the ones had noproblems. Just the normal working out the com port stuff. Also get the 2 meter & 420-520 one b/c when you open her up its good from 130-570 mhz
