Even on 10m were it would work it would only be a one S point better than the 100watts out of most ham rigs. I could use an linear legally with up to 400w but does nothing to make up for the losses in received signal. Even adding a preamp is a joke because the noise is amplified equal to the signal.Steve GW7AAVhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16401775686818128774[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4760239472759749764.post-34730490762210604872011-02-27T23:31:14.085+00:002011-02-27T23:31:14.085+00:00Just whack a 200 watt bremi on there and then you ...Just whack a 200 watt bremi on there and then you will be getting out for milesdoberrydorkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03389024115787191560[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4760239472759749764.post-3769708171198792772010-07-28T09:53:41.309+01:002010-07-28T09:53:41.309+01:00Hi Steve, good article. On 2 meters I do only local work with repeaters. 73 PaulPaul - PAĆPSYhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13472039726489965017[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4760239472759749764.post-49266438956832091922010-07-25T19:48:04.463+01:002010-07-25T19:48:04.463+01:00Westflex 103 is a very similar in size cable as RG...Westflex 103 is a very similar in size cable as RG213U the main difference is that it is air-spaced, which gives it half the loss. The Centre conductor is 2.65mm rather than 2.5mm. In the UK it is sold by WH Westlake and Nevada. Some people I know prefer to steer away from air spaced as there is a risk of water ingress but I have found solid core coax to be just as liable to suffer water ingress as the air-spaced. The problem stems from capillary action down the centre conductor or braid which can happen even with the best waterproofing.Steve GW7AAVhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16401775686818128774[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4760239472759749764.post-71512649375593926582010-07-25T13:59:11.579+01:002010-07-25T13:59:11.579+01:00Hello Steve, very nice written. But not good enough for UHF/VHF. There are so many coax brands. Did never hear about the brand you prefer...73, BasPE4BAS, Bashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12958141238330445285[email protected]
